The Peninsula is the convergence of two ocean currents creating a fertile feeding for an abundance of marine mammals and birdlife. Kaikoura is one of the only places in the world where sperm whales can be seen almost every day. Other whales - orca, humpback, pilot and blue can be seen as well as dolphins, seals and even sharks.

Ocean Ridge is a mere two minutes drive from the centre of Kaikoura township, and is the newest residential eco' land development in Kaikoura. It overlooks the Kaikoura golf course and offers 360 degree panoramic views of the coastline and nearby mountains.
